- Dev Patel is skilled in martial arts and is a black belt in Taekwondo. He started his training in Taekwondo in 2000. In 2004, he regularly competed in both national and international championships, including the AIMAA World Championships, and won a bronze medal. In March 2006, he earned a first dan black belt.
- Dev Patel did hard preparation for eight months to fit into the character of Saroo Brierley in the film Lion (2016). To adapt himself to this character, Patel spent several hours every day in the gym for a long time and developed a different body shape for himself. He also grew a beard and adopted an Australian accent, which was required for his character.

Dev Patel’s Career: From Skins to Awards
British actor Dev Patel has not taken any kind of acting training. Despite this, he made his mark on the small and big screen with his acting. In one of his interviews he says that ‘the first day when I went to the shooting set, I did not understand what I had to do.’ In the British teen drama ‘Skins’ which came between 2007-08, he played the role of Anwar Kharal like a seasoned actor. He got a lot of appreciation for this role. Then, in 2008, Dev Patel made his film debut with Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire. In this film, he played the role of the main character of the film, Jamal Malik. This film was such a huge success that even today the film Slumdog Millionaire does not need any introduction.
